Former President Donald Trump has sued CNN for defamation, seeking $475 million in damages for reports comparing him to Adolf Hitler.
CNN said it had no comment on the lawsuit, which was filed this week in a federal court in Florida.
One day after filing the lawsuit, Trump mentioned the case in a fundraising email.
“I am SUING the Corrupt News Network (CNN) for DEFAMING and SLANDERING my name,” the former president said. “Remember, when they come after ME, they are really coming after YOU.”

News organizations have been common targets for Trump and his supporters.
In 2020, he sued The New York Times and The Washington Post over opinion articles that linked him to Russian interference in American elections.
The case against the Times was dismissed and the one against the Post is pending.
Post‘s political analyst Aaron Blake deemed the lawsuit as “one of his flimsiest yet,” pointing out inconsistencies, such as criticizing CNN for reporting on Democrats who compared Trump to Hitler.
“If reporting on such claims is defamation, Fox News might want to watch out,” linking to several news clips published by the conservative network reporting on Democrats comparing Trump to Hitler.
