President Donald Trump and Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard are standing on opposite sides of the debate as to whether the U.S. should intervene in the ongoing Israel-Iran war.
On June 10, Gabbard tweeted a video that warned of politicians and “warmongers” pushing for the use of nuclear weapons. She warned that the world is facing potential “nuclear annihilation.” Gabbard’s video was posted following a meeting between Trump and Israeli officials a few days earlier. The officials implored Trump to approve of Israel’s attacks on Iran. Gabbard warned Trump against supporting the conflict.
Trump was upset by Gabbard’s video, blaming her for being off-message. The president does not like others in the administration taking such a public stance against him.
The rift between Trump and Gabbard is one of the many cracks in the current administration. Whether it’s among Republican officials or MAGA supporters, there have been many internal schisms in Trump’s second term.

Gabbard has a history of taking stances against U.S. military involvement in conflicts and advocating for the end of global disputes as soon as possible.
Gabbard told Congress last month that she doesn’t think that Iran is close to obtaining a nuclear weapon.
When Trump was asked about Gabbard’s statements this week, he said: “I don’t care what she said; I think they were very close to having a weapon.”
Gabbard and Trump’s rift in their relationship is a new development. Previously, when Gabbard left the Democratic Party to become a Trump supporter during his 2024 presidential campaign, Trump spoke highly of her and added her to his Cabinet despite strong opposition in the Senate.
