Donald Trump talks to reporters outside White House
President Donald Trump continues to refuse to concede the election to President-elect Joe Biden. Biden was declared the 46th president on Saturday morning, after earning victories in Pennsylvania and Nevada, among other key swing states. However, the current president has no plans to concede easily. His team has already filed lawsuits in Georgia, Michigan, Nevada and Pennsylvania, where he claims various acts of wrongdoing were committed without providing any evidence.
Trump’s personal attorney, Rudy Guiliani, agreed that the president will not yet concede. Guiliani stated that the race is “far from over” at a news conference in Philadelphia on Saturday. “Obviously he’s not going to concede when at least 600,000 ballots are in question,” Giuliani claimed. He supported Trump’s allegation that poll watchers in Philadelphia were not allowed to stand close enough to see if the ballots were legitimate or not, creating grounds for a lawsuit. But with the current margin above 0.5%, it is highly unlikely that a Pennsylvania recount is possible.
If the legal challenges prove to be unsuccessful, sources close to Trump say that he may never concede the loss.
