Trump Congratulates Kansas Instead Of Missouri On Its Super Bowl Win
President Donald Trump praised the wrong state for winning the Super Bowl — not realizing the Kansas City Chiefs are based in Missouri, not Kansas.
The Chiefs scored a 31-20 win over the San Francisco 49ers in a fourth quarter comeback, for their first win in 50 years.
Just after the game ended at 10:15 p.m., Trump tweeted: “Congratulations to the Kansas City Chiefs on a great game, and a fantastic comeback, under immense pressure. You represented the Great State of Kansas and, in fact, the entire USA, so very well! Our Country is PROUD OF YOU!”
His tweet was deleted within minutes and was replaced with a congratulatory tweet for the correct state.
