Trump Claims Pelosi Is Trying To Drop Impeachment Case, ‘Violating The Constitution’

President Donald Trump falsely claimed on Saturday that the impeachment against him is “violating the Constitution” and that Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California) has abandoned the case.

“(Pelosi) has no case. She has no case. So let’s not submit it,” Trump said Saturday at the Turning Point USA conference in West Palm Beach, Florida. “That’s good right? That’s good. But you know what? That’s so unfair.”

Trump is referring to Pelosi’s decision to hold off on sending the two articles of impeachment to Senate for a trial.

However, Pelosi has reassured reporters that she plans to send them as soon as she understands how the Senate trial will play out and appoints impeachment managers.

“We cannot name managers until we see what the process is on the Senate side, and we hope that will be soon,” Pelosi said Wednesday night after the impeachment vote. “So far we haven’t seen anything that looks fair to us, so hopefully it will be fair.”

The vote fell along party lines, with not a single Republican voting to impeach.

The two articles assert that Trump abused his power by pressuring the Ukrainian government to open a political probe and that he subsequently obstructed Congress by preventing officials from testifying about his actions in Ukraine.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) said that Trump wants the articles to be to senate and is “demanding his day in court.”

Graham told Fox News on Thursday, “I just left President Trump. He is demanding his day in court.”
