Trump Claims Kids Are Stealing ‘Vote-By-Mail’ Ballots: ‘They Grab The Ballots!’

President Donald Trump has been raging about states taking actions to encourage vote-by-mail ballots, which could prevent a second wave of COVID-19 from hitting the U.S. The president has made has made a number of false claims about states’ plans in the last week alone.

Trump tweeted last week, “Oh really? So when [California Gov. Gavin Newsom] sends out 28 million ballots in all the mailboxes, and kids go and they raid the mailboxes, and they hand them to people that are signing the ballots down the end of the street, which is happening. They grab the ballots.”

There is no evidence to support Trump’s claim.

Last month, Newsom signed an executive order to send every registered voter a ballot to vote for the upcoming election in November.

Trump has previously said that “no Republican would win again” if vote-by-mail was enacted nationally. He has falsely claimed that in the 2016 elections thousands of Californians illegally voted but failed to provide any proof of this.
