Ex-Trump campaign manager Bill Stepien did not testify live before the House Committee Investigating the January 6, 2021 riot on Monday as planned.
Stepien’s wife went into labor, and the committee excused him from testifying during the live session.
To fill in for his absence, a lawyer representing Stepien made a statement to the committee.
The House committee used previously recorded testimony of Stepien during the session.

The hearing revolved around Donald Trump and his plan to overturn the 2020 election.
Rudy Giuliani‘s part in the production of false election claims was also put in the spotlight as the recorded testimony from Stepien was critical of Giuliani’s efforts to pursue overturning the 2020 election.
Stepien was not enthusiastic about testifying before the committee. Still, he chose to attend recorded sessions because he did not want to deny the subpoena.
Stepien is currently the campaign manager for Harriet Hageman, who is running against incumbent Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wisconsin). His company is reported to have received $190,000 from Hageman’s campaign.
