President Donald Trump on Wednesday endorsed Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican candidate with a history of racist remarks and a supporter of the QAnon conspiracy theory. He congratulated her after she won her Georgia congressional primary, calling her a “future Republican Star” who is “strong on everything and never gives up.”
“Congratulations to future Republican Star Marjorie Taylor Greene on a big Congressional primary win in Georgia against a very tough and smart opponent,” Trump tweeted. “Marjorie is strong on everything and never gives up – a real WINNER!”
Trump endorsed Greene despite her involved in racist, Islamophobic and anti-Semitic remarks. In June, her Facebook videos, in which she made a number of offensive comments, claiming African Americans are “slaves to the Democratic Party,” were made public. She also called the first two Muslim congresswomen, Rashida Tlaib (D-Michigan) and Ilhan Omar (D-Minnesota), “an Islamic invasion” of the U.S. government and said that Democratic donor George Soros, who is Jewish, is also a Nazi.
Greene also supports the far-right QAnon conspiracy theory, labeled by the FBI as an extremist group. QAnon theory supporters spread claims that Trump is working to defeat a group of Satanist pedophiles in the government.
