President Donald Trump mocked his Republican challengers for the GOP nomination for president, whom he has dubbed the “Three Stooges.”
While he did not mention any of his challengers by name, he gave each a nickname in a Twitter post Tuesday. “Can you believe it? I’m at 94% approval in the Republican Party, and have Three Stooges running against me,” he said.
“Mr. Appalachian trail man” refers to former Gov. Mark Sanford (R-South Carolina), who ended his term early because of an affair. His office had said he was “hiking the Appalachian trail” when he was actually in Argentina with a women.
