Trump Calls GOP Sen. Rand Paul A ‘Loser’ For Opposing Massive GOP Budget Bill

President Donald Trump called out Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) for saying he will vote against Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill” and not having “practical or constructive ideas.”

Paul said he would consider voting for Trump’s proposed budget bill if it did not include provisions that would raise the federal debt ceiling by $4 trillion.

In response, Trump attacked the Kentucky senator for opposing the bill.

“Rand votes NO on everything, but never has any practical or constructive ideas. His ideas are actually crazy (losers!). The people of Kentucky can’t stand him. This is a BIG GROWTH BILL!” Trump posted on social media.

Paul has stated that he opposes the bill, citing the significant increases it will add to the national debt over the next two years. He also raised concerns over how the increase in the federal deficit will impact Republicans if they vote in favor of the bill.

“I think the problem for conservatives is that they lose their high moral ground. These will be their deficits,” Paul said in an interview. “These will be GOP spending bills, GOP deficits, and there is no change in the direction of the country. They got a $300 billion increase in spending for the military and the border. There’s nothing conservative about this.”

The budget bill, which recently passed in the House by one vote, aims to boost funding for border protection, deportation, and national defense, while cutting back on green energy tax incentives and reforming Medicaid, which may threaten low-income individuals’ access to health insurance.

The bill is now set to be voted on by the Senate. A number of Senate Republicans, including Paul, have expressed opposition to the bill.

Trump has actively been urging GOP senators to unite behind the bill.

“With the Senate coming back to Washington today, I call on all of my Republican friends in the Senate and House to work as fast as they can to get this Bill to MY DESK before the Fourth of JULY,” Trump wrote on social media.

Paul, known as a fiscal hawk, held up aid to Ukraine last year over budget concerns.
