WASHINGTON, DC - JUNE 09: U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), Vice Chairwoman of the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol, delivers opening remarks during a hearing on the January 6th investigation on Capitol Hill on June 9, 2022 in Washington, DC. The bipartisan committee, which has been gathering evidence related to the January 6 attack at the U.S. Capitol for almost a year, will present its findings in a series of televised hearings. On January 6, 2021, supporters of President Donald Trump attacked the U.S. Capitol Building during an attempt to disrupt a congressional vote to confirm the electoral college win for Joe Biden. Former President Donald Trump posted on social media to call for a televised military tribunal for former Rep. Liz Cheney, as well as attack other political opponents.
In a post on Truth Social, his own social media platform, the former president criticized Cheney, a critic of Trump who voted in favor of his impeachment following the Jan. 6 attacks and served as vice president of the committee.
“ELIZABETH LYNNE CHENEY IS GUILTY OF TREASON,” wrote Trump. “RETRUTH IF YOU WANT TELEVISED MILITARY TRIBUNALS.”
Cheney, daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, responded to Trump via X, stating that he was unfit for the presidential office.

Trump continued his social media attacks, calling for the jailing of elected officials, including President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
The former president reposted an image posted by Truth Social user Patriot4life, which included photos of 15 former or current elected officials that read, “THEY SHOULD BE GOING TO JAIL ON MONDAY NOT STEVE BANNON!” These images included Biden, Harris, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, former Vice President Mike Pence and numerous members of the House committee that investigated the Jan. 6 attacks on the Capitol.
Bannon, an ally of Trump, was taken into custody Monday for contempt charges after refusing a subpoena to investigate the Jan. 6 attack.
Trump is currently convicted of 34 felony counts following his hush money trial and is facing 54 other charges in three cases. He has suggested that he would weaponize the Justice Department to jail his political opponents if he won a second term. He has specifically indicated that he would appoint a prosecutor to investigate the Biden family. Attorney General Merrick Garland has a special counsel oversee Trump’s criminal proceedings – and one prosecuting Hunter Biden.
