Trump Calls Federal Search Of Giuliani’s Apartment ‘Very, Very Unfair’

Early Thursday morning, former President Donald Trump condemned the raid of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani‘s apartment and office, calling the search “very unfair” in an interview.

“It’s like so unfair and … it’s like a double standard like I don’t think anybody’s ever seen before. It’s very, very unfair. Rudy is a patriot who loves this country,” Trump said on Fox Business.

“I don’t know what they’re looking for or what they’re doing. They say it had to do with filings of various papers and lobbying files. Well, did Hunter [Biden] file? Did [President] Biden file? Because they did a lot of work with other countries. To the best of everyone’s knowledge, they didn’t file.”

Wednesday’s search of Giuliani’s apartment is one step in a long-running investigation into the former mayor’s dealings. During the Trump administration, high-level political appointees in the Justice Department blocked prior attempts to procure a search warrant against Giuliani. Attorney General Merrick Garland lifted all prior restrictions on a Giuliani search warrant, leading to the  search of his apartment.

“It’s a very, very unfair situation,” Trump continued. “It is so terrible when you see the things going on in our country with the corruption and the problems and then they go after Rudy Giuliani. It’s very said, actually.”

Trump then alleged that former Secretary of State John Kerry discussed Israeli military operations with the Iranian foreign minister during the Obama administration, calling it a double standard. “It is incredible because you bring up John Kerry and the horrible thing that he did and was doing for a period of time,” he said.

Kerry since called the allegations “unequivocally false” in a statement later writing to his personal Twitter account, “This never happened — either when I was Secretary of State or since.”
