President Donald Trump accepted the Republican nomination for president at the Republican National Convention Thursday, giving a 70-minute rally-style speech, full of attacks for his Democratic opponent Joe Biden and praise for himself.
“Joe Biden’s agenda is made in China. My agenda is made in the USA,” he said to the cheering crowd.
Delivering his remarks for the large, mostly mask-less crowd of 2,000 people on the South Lawn, Trump painted a dark picture of a dystopian America under a Biden administration.
“Your vote will decide whether we protect law abiding Americans, or whether we give free rein to violent anarchists, agitators and criminals who threaten our citizens,” Trump warned. “And this election will decide whether we will defend the American way of life, or whether we allow a radical movement to completely dismantle and destroy it.”

Throughout the whole speech, Trump leveled numerous attacks at Biden, calling him “a Trojan horse for socialism” and painting him as being neglectful of working class Americans.
“Joe Biden is not a savior of America’s soul,” Trump said. “He is the destroyer of America’s jobs, and if given the chance, he will be the destroyer of American greatness.”
Just like Vice President Mike Pence and his elder son Donald Trump Jr., Trump pushed the idea of Democrats and Biden as unpatriotic “radical leftists” who “do not see America as the most free, just and exceptional nation on Earth. Instead, they see a wicked nation that must be punished for its sins.”
“America is not a land cloaked in darkness,” Trump said, recalling Biden’s speech on his own nomination day. “America is the torch that enlightens the entire world.”
Trump also briefly addressed the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, which took lives of more than 180,000 Americans. He continued touting his administration’s response to the virus, brushed off statistics and promised to launch the vaccine by the end of the year. He also attacked Biden for saying he would impose quarantine measures again if health experts recommended it. Trump claimed Biden’s proposed speech was “not a solution to the virus, but rather it’s a surrender to the virus.”
“The cost of the Biden shutdown would be measured in increased drug overdoses, depression, alcohol addiction, suicides, heart attacks, economic devastation, job loss and much more,” Trump claimed. “Joe Biden’s plan is not a solution to the virus, but rather it’s a surrender to the virus.”
Trump also praised his administration for adding a “record 9 million job gain over the past three months,” claiming that the U.S. economy was recovering “much faster” than other countries. While nine million people, indeed, got jobs, according to the U.S. Bureau for Labor Statistics, the country has also seen a record of 22 million job loss in March – a fact that the president did not mention.
Finishing the speech, Trump warned the RNC viewers that “this is the most important election in the history of our country.”
“Our opponents believe that America is a depraved nation,” he said of Democrats. “We want our sons and daughters to know the truth: America is the greatest and most exceptional nation in the history of the world!”
