Trump Blames Media On Making Him ‘Look As Bad As Possible” Amid Coronavirus Crisis

President Donald Trump is continuing his Twitter attacks on the media for making the country and him “look as bad as possible,” defending the administration’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.

In last few days, Trump tweeted to defend the federal response to the coronavirus, drawing attention to other countries and blaming the media for “working overtime” to make the U.S. and himself “look as bad as possible.”

“With the exception of New York & a few other locations, we’ve done MUCH better than most other Countries in dealing with the China Virus. Many of these countries are now having a major second wave. The Fake News is working overtime to make the USA (& me) look as bad as possible!” Trump tweeted.

“FAKE NEWS IS THE ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE!” he added.

“Big China Virus breakouts all over the World, including nations which were thought to have done a great job. The Fake News doesn’t report this. USA will be stronger than ever before, and soon!” Trump wrote, retweeting a news piece on Australia’s recent surge in coronavirus cases.

Australia reported 747 new cases by Thursday night, with Victoria’s spike in 649 new cases and eight deaths on Friday. Overall, 18,000 coronavirus cases have been reported in Australia, with 196 deaths.

In contrast, the U.S. has had more than four million coronavirus cases and more than 150,000 deaths. On August 2, there have been at least 421 new coronavirus deaths and 48,849 new cases. Florida alone has seen a spike of almost 10,000 new cases and 253 new deaths on Thursday. Statewide, 6,585 Florida residents have died after contracting the virus.

Trump also continued to argue that the number of cases is high because of the number of tests conducted.

“We have more cases because we have tested far more than any other country, 60,000,000,” Trump tweeted after Fauci’s testimony. “If we tested less, there would be less cases.”
