Despite multiple failures, President Donald Trump and his campaign team are continuing in their efforts to overturn the results of the November election – and they are now seeking help from the Supreme Court with a new petition.
The petition, which seeks an overturn of Pennsylvania Supreme Court decisions that denied requests to allow the Pennsylvania General Assembly to select a slate of electors, rather than Pennsylvania voters, will most likely not be successful.
Pennsylvania affirmed last month that President-elect Joe Biden had won the state’s 20 electoral votes, even with an extra three weeks of vote counting and failed legal challenges from the president.
Even if the petition is successful, it would do nothing to change the election results. Biden won a wide margin in the Electoral College, and if Pennsylvania were to flip in favor of Trump, it would not change that.

“The petition seeks all appropriate remedies, including vacating the appointment of electors committed to Joseph Biden and allowing the Pennsylvania General Assembly to select their replacements,” said Rudy Giuliani, an attorney for the Trump campaign.
Congress meets on January 6 to tally the Electoral College’s vote for Biden (Biden won 306 electoral votes, and Trump won 232), and so Giuliani is urging the Supreme Court to make a decision regarding the petition quickly.
Chances of this are slim, though, as the Supreme Court is not scheduled to meet again until January 8, which is after the Electoral vote in Congress.
The Trump campaign has filed nearly 50 lawsuits since the election that contain allegations of voting fraud, most of which have either been dismissed or dropped due to a lack of evidence surrounding the accusations. Judges from both political parties have dismissed these cases, and the Supreme Court has also denied two different cases.
