Trump Ally Rep. Jody Hice Fights Subpoena For Georgia Election Fraud Investigation

After recent clashes with Fulton County District Attorney, Fani Willis, Rep. Jody Hice (R-Georgia) and his legal counsel are gearing up to challenge a subpoena by the D.A.

Willis filed the subpoena to investigate Hice’s attempt to overturn the 2020 election results. He and former President Donald Trump championed the conspiracy that cheating was rampant in the county.

Hice received the summon last month to appear before a grand jury. A federal judge is set to review Hice’s request to block the order.

In another filing, Hice requested that the hearings be moved to a federal court instead of a state court.

Hice’s counsel stated that the order violates the Speech or Debate Clause, which allows politicians to waive attending court dates due to conflicts with their legislative duties.

Willis also subpoenaed several other GOP lawmakers from Alabama, citing their roles in the plot to overturn the election.

While the court order is currently blocked, Hice is set to return to Washington for his regular duties as a representative.

“At this time, Mr. Hice is eager to return to Washington, D.C. to fulfill his duties as a member of Congress as the House of Representatives is in session this week,” a statement from Hice’s office read.
