Trump Admits To Purposely Leaving Romney Off Of COVID-19 Taskforce

President Donald Trump admitted on Sunday to purposely leaving Sen. Mitt Romney out of a congressional task force for reopening the United States economy.

In February, Romney was the only GOP senator to vote in favor of impeaching the president for abuse of power. Since then, Trump has held a grudge against the Utah senator, calling him a “failed presidential candidate” and “one of the dumbest and worst candidates in the history of Republican politics.”

On Tuesday, the White House announced a list of lawmakers who would be members of the “Opening Up America Again Congressional Group.” Fifty-two GOP senators and several Democratic senators were on the list. Romney was the only GOP senator to not be added to the coronavirus task force.

When asked on Sunday if leaving out Romney of the task force was the president holding a grudge, Trump said, “Yeah it does.”
