Top Speakers Bureau Drops Corey Lewandowski After Mocking Migrant Girl With Down Syndrome

Corey Lewandowski has started suffering consequences for his recent insensitive comment about a young migrant girl.

Corey Lewandowski Dropped By Speakers Bureau

Leading Authorities Inc. — a top speakers bureau based in Washington, D.C. — on Wednesday, dropped President Donald Trump‘s former campaign manager, according to CNN. The move comes after Lewandowski appeared to mock a 10-year-old immigrant girl with Down Syndrome who had been separated from her mother at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Lewandowski appeared on Fox News on Tuesday to comment on the more than 2,000 children who have been separated from their parents at the border and held in migrant detention centers as a result of the government’s “zero-tolerance” policy on illegal immigration. Former Democratic strategist Zac Petkanas began citing the example of the aforementioned girl when Lewandowski interrupted him by saying “Womp, womp.”

Petkanas stopped his recounting of the girl’s condition and angrily replied: “Did you just say ‘Womp, womp’ to a 10-year-old with Down syndrome separated from her mother?” before adding, “How dare you. How dare you.”

Lewandowski attempted to defend his remark, but Petkanas simply denounced him for being insensitive.

The next day, Lewandowski did not apologize but instead said this on Fox News: “An apology? I owe an apology to the children whose parents are putting them in a position that is forcing them to be separated? We owe an apology to Jamiel Shaw and Brian Terry and Kate Steinle’s family [for allowing] those individuals to be killed by illegal aliens.”

Lewandowski then added: “The American people owe an apology to those people. “When you cross the border illegally, you have committed a crime and there is accountability for committing crimes and there should be.”

Entering the country unlawfully is a federal misdemeanor, not a felony.

Some people also took to Twitter to urge T-Mobile — which hired Lewandowski as a consultant — to fire him for his many disparaging comments.

Lewandowski is a frequent commentator on Fox News. He is no stranger to controversy: when he served as Trump’s first campaign manager in 2016, he was charged with simple battery after he aggressively grabbed and pulled a female reporter’s arm.
