Thousands March To Protest Restrictions On Abortion Rights

On Saturday, hundreds of protests were organized across all 50 states to condemn restrictions on abortion rights.

Over 660 marches were estimated to have taken place throughout the United States. These nationwide protests come as Texas’ ban on abortion after six weeks of pregnancy was recently allowed to go into effect by the Supreme Court.

It has been eight months since President Joe Biden took office, but more abortion restrictions have been passed by GOP-led state governments during his first months in office than in any previous years, according to a study from the Guttmacher Institute.

“No matter where you live, no matter where you are, this fight is at your doorstep right now,” Alexis McGill Johnson, president of Planned Parenthood, said during her speech at the “Rally for Abortion Justice” in Washington, D.C.

“The moment is dark,” Johnson added.

The Supreme Court, which is set to resume in-person arguments on Monday, rejected a motion to block the Texas law from going into effect.
