With Donald Trump looking to lock up the Republican nomination for president, The Lincoln Project, an anti-Trump group, has released its toughest ad of the campaign season.
In the last month, the group has released seven ads on their YouTube channel and website targeting everything from the former president’s age to his rumored “weird smell.”
The Lincoln Project’s most recent ad takes a less superficial angle, however. After Trump expressed his desire to rule like a dictator if he returns to the Oval Office, the ad attacks the issue head on.
The Lincoln Project released a parody of a video Trump himself posted on his Truth Social account. In the video, “God Made Trump,” spanning almost three minutes, the voice of an old-timey narrator declares again and again that “God made Trump” as an answer to America’s problems to take on the “deep state,” Marxists and the fake news.

In the Lincoln Project’s parody video, they claim that if Trump really was sent by God, then “God Made a Dictator.” In the same rhythms and cadence as the original pro-Trump ad, the Lincoln Project’s video calls the former president’s fascistic qualities. After flashing images of Hitler, Kim Jong Un and Saddam Hussein, the Trump imagery begins to roll to make sure there is no mistake that this is a direct comparison.
“God said, ‘I need a man who breaks the faith of even his most godly followers, and leads them to idolatry, place him above me.’ So God made a dictator,” the parody ad’s narrator says. “And then God said, ‘I have sent this man to test you, and until you cast him down you have failed.'”
Trump took to Truth Social to call the people at The Lincoln Project, “perverts and losers” and bashed Fox News for running the ad. He also claimed that A.I. had been used to “make [him] look as bad as crooked Joe Biden.” The A.I claims by Trump were proven false as The Lincoln Project used strictly real footage of the former president in the ad.
