Ted Cruz Storms Out Of Interview After Being Pressed On Gun Control After Texas School Shooting

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (R) stormed away from an interview after being questioned by a British reporter on why school mass shootings “only happen in America” following Tuesday’s tragic elementary school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, that took the lives of 19 children and two teachers.

“Is this the moment to reform gun laws?” Sky News journalist Mark Stone said to start his questioning.

“You know, it’s easy to go to politics,” the senator responded.

“But it’s important, it’s at the heart of the issue,” Stone pressed.

Cruz responded that he knew politics is what the media is focused on, but that the Democrat’s gun reform laws would not have stopped 18-year-old Salvador Ramos from unloading his assault-style rifle at Robb Elementary School.

“Many people around the world just cannot fathom, ‘Why only in America? Why is this American exceptionalism so awful?'” Stone said.

“I’m sorry you think American exceptionalism is so awful. You know what, you’ve got your political agenda, God love you,” Cruz said before walking away.

Stone continued to follow Cruz as another reporter interjected questioning the senator again on why America sees this type of mass shooting.

“You can’t answer that, can you, sir?” Stone challenged.

Cruz responded, “Why is it that people come from all over the world to America? Because it’s the freest, most prosperous, safest country on earth.”

“And save me the propaganda,” he added.

The outrage and grief around the country has mounted pressure on lawmakers to unite on gun reform legislation.
