Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas Hospitalized With Infection

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, 73, was admitted to Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C., on Friday after experiencing flu-like symptoms, according to a statement from the court.

“It is not COVID related. The Justice does not have COVID,” a Supreme Court spokesperson confirmed.

The press release added that Thomas had undergone tests, was diagnosed and has been treated for an infection with intravenous antibiotics. His state is improving, and he is expected to be released from the hospital within the next couple of days.

Thomas, the high court’s longest sitting justice and one of its’ most conservative members, will not participate in hearings remotely this week, but he will remain involved in “consideration and discussion” of cases through written materials and recordings during his absence.
