South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem Won’t Endorse Candidate In 2024 GOP Presidential Primaries

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R-South Dakota) said that she does not plan on endorsing a candidate in the 2024 Republican presidential primary. However, she did nod to Donald Trump’s likely victory.

Noem appeared on the KWAT radio station to give her take on the election, and to share who she will be rooting for as the primaries grow near.

When asked if she planned to endorse a candidate, she responded, “No, I don’t think so. President Trump is in the race and right now I don’t see a path to victory for anybody else with him in the race and the situation as it sits today.”

Despite the 37-count indictment brought against him earlier in the month for willful retention of national defense information, Trump is pulling significantly ahead of his opponents, which include Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R- Florida) and former Vice President Mike Pence, among others.

Though he is the current Republican frontrunner, polls still suggest that Trump will lose if pitted against President Joe Biden.

Noem warned listeners that the 2024 election will likely be an interesting one.

“I  think people should saddle up, it could be a rollercoaster of a presidential race,” she said. “I think it’ll be unprecedented in what we’ll see. There’s a lot of unknowns and the person who may win may not even be in the race yet.”

It has been rumored that Noem would throw her hat in the already-crowded GOP presidential ring. However, she declared on Tuesday that she is “so focused on South Dakota” and will continue to put her energy towards her duties as governor.
