Dozens of Capitol Police officers, friends and family members of Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick met along the east front steps of the Capitol Tuesday night to honor the fallen officer’s memory. Sicknick died from injuries sustained during the Capitol riots on January 6.
With a full honor guard, officers walked up one by one to salute Sicknick. Among those who attended the service was President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden.
Before the ceremony, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-New York) spoke about Sicknick saying, “May his memory live forever as a model of service to our nation, selflessness in the line of duty, and courage in the face of danger.”
Sicknick will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery, and further tribute will be performed for Sicknick’s service in the Air National Guard.
