On the second anniversary of the Dobbs decision, the Democratic branch of the Senate has launched a new advertising campaign.
The campaign marks the anniversary of the Supreme Court case that overturned Roe v. Wade, putting states in charge of abortion legislation. Since this ruling, numerous states have tightened their abortion legislation, with some states having near-total abortion bans.
The advertisements will appear in female-focused media outlets, including Cosmopolitan and Harper’s Bazaar. The advertisements will also be targeted to women in specific states, including Arizona, Florida, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and Wisconsin. These states are expected to be key swing states during the upcoming election.
The advertisement link will direct viewers to a website that attacks the stances held by specific GOP candidates about abortion and other reproductive health topics, such as IVF and contraception access.

This advertising campaign comes as the Democratic leadership in the Senate has been forcing votes about reproductive health on the Senate floor, many of which GOP lawmakers have blocked. Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokesperson Annie Lentz issued a statement about the campaign.
“The anniversary of the Republican Supreme Court decision that overturned Roe v. Wade underscores the stakes of this year’s Senate elections and the importance of protecting Democrats’ Senate majority with the power to confirm or deny Supreme Court justices,” Lentz said.
The anniversary of Dobbs is a trending topic on X, with many politicians weighing in on the controversial ruling. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D) criticized the ruling and showed her support for President Joe Biden.
