Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) spoke out in an interview criticizing President Donald Trump‘s attacks on Democratic nominee Joe Biden‘s son, Hunter Biden, say that they will not change the minds of “a single voter.”
Cruz spoke with Axios’ Jonathan Swan about how Biden’s “best moment” in their final debate was when Biden turned to speak with the American people directly and ignored Trump’s remarks about his family.
“One of Biden’s best points was when he said all these attacks back and forth about my family and [Trump’s] family, they don’t matter. What matters is your family. That may have been Biden’s best moment, actually,” said Cruz. When asked about the effectiveness of Trump’s attacks on Hunter Biden, Cruz said that he did not “think it moves a single voter.”
During the past several months before the election, Trump has been highly critical of Hunter Biden’s involvement in Ukrainian company Burisma, as well as his business connections in China. Without evidence, Trump claims that this involvement has allowed the Biden family to financially profit quite significantly.

A spokeswoman for Cruz, Lauren Blair Aronson, clarified on Twitter after the interview that although Cruz didn’t think that Trump’s attacks on Hunter Biden were effective, he found the overall situation with his business dealings as an issue people should be concerned about.
