Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) announced that he has joined Parler, an alternative social networking site like Twitter that “protects users” rights by not censoring their posts.
Cruz uploaded a video to YouTube about platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, which he claims limit conservatives “free speech.” The Texas senator specifically bashed the platforms for “flagrantly silencing those with whom they disagree, from conservative media organizations to the president of the United States — and millions of Americans in between.”
Cruz noted that he was joining Parler as a “free-speech” platform. “Let’s speak. Let’s speak freely. And let’s end the Silicon Valley censorship,” he said.
He did not say that he would leave either Twitter or Facebook – and their massive audiences.

Cruz, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, has held many hearings on social media platforms censoring conservative opinions and has called for the platforms protect users’ content.
