Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) told Fox News Sunday that he expects Lara Trump, Eric Trump‘s wife, to run for the open North Carolina U.S. Senate seat in 2022.

“The biggest winner of this whole impeachment trial is Lara Trump,” said Graham. “My dear friend Richard Burr (R-North Carolina), who I like and have been friends to a long time, just made Lara Trump almost the certain nominee for the Senate seat in North Carolina to replace him if she runs, and I certainly will be behind her because she represents the future of the Republican Party.”

Burr is expected to be censured by North Carolina’s GOP due to his vote to convict Trump.

Burr will be retiring in 2022, vacating his seat. “The evidence is compelling that President Trump is guilty of inciting an insurrection against a coequal branch of government and that the charge rises to the level of high Crimes and Misdemeanors,” Burr told reporters after he voted to convict Trump.
