Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Arizona) has raised more than $1.1 million in campaign funds – but little of the money came from her constituents.
Sinema received most of the donations from big names in the pharmaceutical and finance industries. The senator is opposed to President Joe Biden‘s $3.5 trillion reconciliation bill and far-reaching prescription drug pricing proposals.
Sinema has received donations from powerful people in the pharmaceutical industry including $3,000 from Gilead’s CEO Daniel O’Day, $2,900 from Eli Lilly CEO David Ricks, $2,900 from Bristol Myers Squibb CEO Giovanni Cofario and $2,900 Merck board chair Kenneth C. Frazier.
Sinema also received donations from D.C. lobbyists like Steven Elmendorf, a partner and co-founder of the firm Subject Matter, which represents Goldman Sachs, and $2,900 from Arshi Siddiqui, a partner at Atkin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld.
