Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) endorsed Joe Biden on Monday on the former vice president’s livecast, telling Biden, “We need you in the White House.”
Sanders suspended his presidential campaign last week, solidifying Biden as the presumptive Democratic nominee for president.
“I’m asking every Democrat, I’m asking every independent, I’m asking a lot of Republicans to come together in this campaign to support your candidacy, which I endorse,” Sanders said.
His decision to endorse Biden was to ensure President Donald Trump becomes a one-term president, Sanders said.

“I will do all that I can to see that that happens, Joe,” Sanders said.
“I want to thank you for that. It’s a big deal. Your endorsement means a great deal, a great deal to me,” Biden replied. “If I am the nominee, which it looks like now you just made me, I am going to need you, not just to win the campaign, but to govern.”
Sanders said that despite it being “no great secret” that the two have many differences in policy, the two would set up a task force to discover policy areas where both sides of the Democratic Party can agree on.
