Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) announced on Wednesday that he would be dropping out of the Democratic presidential race. His exit establishes former Vice President Joe Biden as the presumptive Democratic nominee.
“Focusing on that new vision for America is what our campaign has been about and what in fact we have accomplished,’’ Sanders said in an announcement. “Few would deny that over the course of the past five years our movement has won the ideological struggle.”
Since the South Carolina primaries in late February, Sanders has been losing to Biden. With the coronavirus pandemic preventing all candidates from holding campaign events, Sanders struggled with online live streams and television appearances.
