White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said in a briefing on Tuesday that she “can’t guarantee” that President Donald Trump didn’t use the N-word, after claims this week came up Trump used the racial slur.
On Tuesday, former White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman released her book, Unhinged, in which she claims to have a tape of the President using the N-word. Asked by reporters whether Trump had ever used that word Sanders said that she has never heard him using it or anything similar. “The President addressed that question directly,” she said, adding, “I’ve never heard him use that term or anything similar.”
On Monday, the President tweeted that he doesn’t even have the N-word in his vocabulary and that Omarosa made the whole story up.
At the briefing, reporters also asked Sanders about Trump’s later tweet, calling the former White House aide, who is African-American, a “dog” and a “crazed, crying lowlife.”
