Rudy Giuliani Says Demand To End Mueller Probe Just A Bluff

Rudy Giuliani, President Donald Trump’s personal attorney, said in an interview with Politico that he was simply bluffing when he called to suspend special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.

“That’s what I’m supposed to do,” Giuliani said in his interview. “What am I supposed to say? That they should investigate him forever? Sorry, I’m not a sucker.”

Giuliani’s demand for the Mueller probe to come to an end within 24 hours of the release the Department of Justice report criticizing the FBI for its behavior during the 2016 presidential election season. The report called former FBI Director James Comey “insubordinate,” in his handling of the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s outside email servers. It also said several leaders exhibited a bias against Trump.

“Mueller should suspend his investigation, and he should go see Rod Rosenstein, who created him, and the deputy attorney general and Attorney General Sessions, who should now step up big time to save his department,” Giuliani told Fox News’ Sean Hannity last Thursday. “Rosenstein and Jeff Sessions have a chance to redeem themselves, and that chance comes about tomorrow.”

The investigation was not terminated, despite Giuliani’s demands.

“I didn’t think it would [be],” Giuliani told Politico. “But I still think it should be.”

Trump has continued to bash Comey and Mueller’s investigation following the release of the DOJ report, calling Comey’s actions “criminal” and saying that the 500-page report “totally exonerates” him.

Inspector general report ‘totally exonerates me,’ Trump says from CNBC.
