WASHINGTON, DC - NOVEMBER 19: Rudy Giuliani speaks to the press about various lawsuits related to the 2020 election, inside the Republican National Committee headquarters on November 19, 2020 in Washington, DC. President Donald Trump, who has not been seen publicly in several days, continues to push baseless claims about election fraud and dispute the results of the 2020 United States presidential election. Rudy Giuliani aided federal prosecutors investigating his dealings in Ukraine by unlocking several phones and providing possible passwords for electronic devices that were obtained by the FBI in a raid of his home and office in April of last year.
“If you are innocent, you don’t have anything to hide and you don’t want allegation of a criminal investigation hanging over your head,” said Giuliani’s attorney, Robert Costello. “You do things like giving passwords to electronic devices that we had no obligation to. If we thought there was anything bad on those devices, we wouldn’t do it. His actions speak louder than words.”
Costello said Giuliani is also willing to comply with an interview even though it could put him at risk of saying something self-incriminating.
Prosecutors are trying to find out if Giuliani acted on behalf of Ukrainian officials and as former President Donald Trump‘s personal attorney at the same time. Giuliani has adamantly denied acting outside of his role as Trump’s attorney.
