NEW YORK, NY - JANUARY 12: Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani speaks to reporters at Trump Tower, January 12, 2017 in New York City. President-elect Trump continues to hold meetings Trump Tower.
Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani has been a key legal adviser to President Donald Trump in his lawsuits over his election defeat. Giuliani is reportedly requesting a salary of $20,000 per day to continue assisting Trump’s court efforts.
These challenges, mainly regarding unfounded claims of voter fraud and Trump’s assertion that President-elect Joe Biden and the Democratic Party “stole” the 2020 election from him, have been failing in court, and several of his lawyers have dropped out.
Giuliani remains, as he has for years, by Trump’s side. At $20,000 a day, the former mayor will exceed some of the most expensive lawyers in the country (who can make up to $15,000 a day), in terms of daily salary.
Giuliani rejected these reports, saying that Trump would work out a payment for him after the court challenges had ended, and that whoever came up with the claim that he asked such a high salary “is a liar, a complete liar.”

While Trump has been faltering in his court challenges, with many filings lacking evidence, Giuliani has continued to encourage Trump to fight on in the courts.
In his opening statement in Pennsylvania, he repeatedly claimed “widespread nationwide voter fraud,” but later admitted that the case was not about “fraud.” The Pennsylvania Supreme Court rejected Trump’s case.
Giuliani’s history with Trump is a checkered one. Following the Mueller investigation, Giuliani continued to work for Trump by attempting to uncover more information on Hunter Biden, Joe Biden’s son, and his involvement with Ukrainian company Burisma. The effort backfired and led to Trump’s impeachment.
