Rudy Giuliani Banned From From Practicing Law In D.C. For Lying To Courts

Rudy Giuliani has been officially suspended from practicing law in Washington, D.C. This news comes shortly after the New York Appellate Division suspended Giuliani’s law license two weeks ago. The D.C. courts generally follow New York State’s decision in such cases. “On consideration of a certified copy of an order of the Supreme Court of New York, Appellate Division, First Judicial Department, suspending respondent from the practice of law pending further disciplinary proceedings in that state, it is,” the D.C. Appellate Court wrote in its final order.

Both of the orders are in response to Giuliani’s false claims of election fraud in the 2020 election.  The New York Appellate Court wrote that the former New York City mayor “communicated demonstrably false and misleading statements to courts, lawmakers and the public at large in his capacity as lawyer for former President Donald J. Trump and the Trump campaign in connection with Trump’s failed effort at reelection in 2020.”

Although Giuliani has not been practicing law actively for many years, his role as a lawyer during the aftermath of the 2020 election has landed him on extremely dangerous legal ground.

Giuliani has yet to respond to the order but has been retweeted tweets in his defense.
