Ronna McDaniel Pulls Out Contentious RNC Chair Victory

Ronna McDaniel has secured a fourth term as RNC chair despite deep-seated fissures erupting in the Republican party.

McDaniel defeated her challenger, RNC’s California committeewoman Harmeet Dhillon, by a vote of 111 committee members to 51. The CEO of MyPillow, Mike Lindell, came in third with four votes.

“I look forward to uniting once again as a Party and working together, alongside Harmeet and Mike, to heal as a Party and elect Republicans,” McDaniel said in her “Vision for Unity” for the future of the party.

“We need all of us,” McDaniel said on stage following her victory. She called Lindell and Dhillon to join her. “We heard you, grassroots. We know. We heard Harmeet; we heard Mike Lindell… The Democrats are going to hear us in 2024.”

The election, held on Friday at the Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach, highlighted growing divisions in the Republican party. Contentious questions around campaign financing and worse-than-expected mid-term election results galvanized fierce debate.

Whip conversations around McDaniel and Dhillon reportedly questioned each candidate’s character.

Dhillon, who was deeply aligned with the Trump campaign, was backed by conservative media firebrands Tucker Carlson, Laura Ingraham and Charlie Kirk. She called for a reset of the RNC and reforms to the party platform.

Despite the loss, Dhillon has called for party unity around the four-term RNC chair.

“I’m committed to healing and coming together with folks, but at the end of the day, if our party is perceived as totally out of touch with the grassroots, which I think some may take away from this outcome, we have some work to do,” he said.
