Ron DeSantis’s Campaign Announces $20 Million In Fundraising Since Joining Presidential Race

On Thursday, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ (R-Florida) campaign announced that it had raised $20 million since DeSantis entered the crowded GOP presidential race.

A super PAC affiliated with DeSantis, Never Back Down, also announced on Thursday that it has raised $130 million since forming in March. DeSantis campaign manager Generra Peck expressed gratitude for all of the support in a press release.

“We are grateful for the investment so many Americans have made to get this country back on track,” Peck said. “The fight to save it will be long and challenging, but we have built an operation to share the governor’s message and mobilize the millions of people who support it. We are ready to win.”

National polls show DeSantis currently in second place, behind former President Donald Trump. On Wednesday, the Trump campaign and his PAC, Save America, announced that they had raised more than $35 million during the second quarter of 2023. Despite the 37-count indictment that Trump is currently facing, he continues to pull ahead and is considered the likely Republican nominee.

DeSantis’ fundraising figures, however, were described by campaign officials as the “largest first-quarter filing from any non-incumbent Republican candidate in more than a decade,” which may be an indication of his slow rise to the top.

Trailing behind Trump and DeSantis are Republican candidates Mike Pence and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, along with Miami Mayor Francis Suarez and Vivek Ramaswamy.
