Just days into her campaign, Vice President Kamala Harris (D) has gained significant backing from a surprising place – Republicans for Harris.

The Harris campaign revealed that they had more than two dozen endorsements from the GOP. These endorsements include governors, Congress members and former administration for former President Donald Trump.

Many of the endorsements have become vocal critics of Trump. Some of these include former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld and former Trump press secretary Stephanie Grisham.

Other Trump administration endorsements come from former secretaries Chuck Hagel and Ray LaHood and official Olivia Troye.

Alongside Weld, other governors have backed Harris, including Jim Edgar and former New Jersey Gov. Christine Todd Whitman.

Additionally, numerous GOP House members have backed Harris, including Christopher Shays, Rod Chandler, Dave Emery, Tom Coleman, Claudine Schneider, Jim Greenwood, Wayne Gilchrest, David Trott, Susan Molinari, John LeBoutillier, Adam Kinzinger, Denver Riggleman, Peter Smith, Alan Steelman, Jack Quinn and Joe Walsh.

Kinzinger issued a statement to speak about his decision not to back Trump in the upcoming election after changing his endorsement from President Joe Biden (D) to Harris.

“As a proud conservative, I never thought I’d be endorsing a Democrat for President,” Kinzinger said. “But, I know Vice President Harris will defend our democracy and ensure Donald Trump never returns to the White House. Donald Trump poses a direct threat to fundamental American values. He only cares about himself, and his pursuit of power.

He continued by criticizing Trump’s actions leading up to the Jan. 6, 2021, riot, writing that Trump “sent a mob to overturn our lawful election, who violently attacked law enforcement and ransacked our nation’s Capitol in the process.”

Republicans for Harris intends to utilize their powerful GOP supporters to yield more support from Republicans ahead of the election. They specifically are aiming at GOP voters who backed Nikki Haley earlier in the election. Republican supporters are expected to support Harris at rallies soon.
