Reps. Marjorie Taylor Green & Chip Roy Fined For Not Wearing Masks On House Floor

Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) and Chip Roy (R-Texas) were fined for not wearing face masks on the House floor, according to the Ethics Committee Wednesday.

While Roy was only given $500 of a fine, as it is his first official record of such behavior, Greene’s latest fine will be $2,500 as she was previously penalized $500 in May initially for refusing to wear a mask inside the Capitol.

Roy said he wouldn’t file for an appeal because he didn’t think he would win the case.

“Filing an appeal to tyrannical overlords is a futile gesture, and — if successful — would leave one without standing to sue, should the mood arise,” the representative from Texas said in a statement.

Greene, who hasn’t spoken publicly about the fine, also didn’t file an appeal.

Greene, however, filed a lawsuit against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California) over the $500 penalty she got in May.

“In other words, Dr Monahan is just another Pelosi puppet and is guilty of medical malpractice. After hearing this bullshit, every single Republican should refuse to wear masks,” she tweeted back in July, calling out Capitol physician Dr. Brian Monahan, who advised the Speaker to mandate the mask-wearing on the House floor.
