Rep. Rashida Tliab Boos Hillary Clinton At Bernie Sanders Rally, Then Apologizes

Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Michigan) booed Hillary Clinton at a Bernie Sanders rally in Iowa on Friday ahead of the Iowa Caucus.

The crowd’s “boos” were prompted by the moderator mentioning one of Clinton’s recent attacks against Sanders in a recent documentary where she said that “nobody likes” him. Later in the documentary, she continued, “He was in Congress for years. He had one senator support him. Nobody likes him, nobody wants to work with him, he got nothing done. He was a career politician. It’s all just baloney and I feel so bad that people got sucked into it.”

The moderator tried to cut off the audience’s reaction by saying “We’re not gonna boo, we’re not gonna boo. We’re classy here.”

This led to Tliab’s comments attacking the former first lady. “No, no. I’ll boo. Booooo. You all know, I can’t be quiet. No, we’re gonna boo. That’s alright. The haters will shut up on Monday when we win,” she said.

She then put out an apology on Twitter on Saturday, saying her actions were as a result of her expressing “frustration” and “disappointment” for  Clinton’s comments.

The tweet read, “In this instance, I allowed my disappointment with Secretary Clinton’s latest comments about Senator Sanders and his supporters get the best of me. You all, my sisters-in-service on stage, and our movement deserve better.”

Clinton has yet to respond to these events.
