Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Arizona) has been a consistent advocate of lowering federal spending, but a new report from a non-partisan watchdog claims Gosar spent the most money on tax-payer-funded travel.
Moonlight Foundation’s new review found that Gosar spent $1 million on travel, more than all other members of the House in the past five years. The representatives of similarly sized Arizona districts spent just around 40% of that number over the five-year span.
“I will continue to cut wasteful federal spending wherever I can,” the Arizona Republican claims on his official website. “The American people and taxpayers deserve nothing less.”
A Gosar spokesperson responded to the report in a statement.

Gosar’s work as the chairman of the House’s Western Caucus requires “extensive official government travel throughout the state of Arizona and the rest of the country, including travel costs for the congressman and four aides,” a statement made to CNN said.
“Unlike out-of-touch politicians, Congressman Gosar travels back to his district in Arizona every week, then hits the road, to work tirelessly on behalf of his constituents of the Fourth Congressional District,” the spokesperson continued.
