Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia), an avid conspiracy theorist who spread false election fraud claims in 2020, said during a debate she was a victim of the Januray 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol orchestrated by supporters of former President Donald Trump.
Greene responded to her Democratic opponent, Marcus Flowers, who accused her of participating in the insurrection.
“You cannot accuse me of insurrection,” she said on Sunday. “I was a victim of the January 6 riot just as much as any other member of Congress, that was the third day I had on the job, I had nothing to do with what happened there that day, and I will not have you accuse me of that.”

Flowers then asked if she agreed that President Joe Biden won the election in 2020. She answered that Biden “is the president of the United States.”
When Flowers fired back by saying that she pushed lies about the election results, she repeated more false claims about election fraud.
Greene is considered the favorite to win November’s election and retain her seat in the U.S. House. She represents Georgia’s heavily Republican 14th district.
