Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) introduced a bill on Tuesday to award Kyle Rittenhouse, the 18-year-old who fatally shot two protestors during a Black Lives Matter protest last summer, the Congressional Gold Medal.
According to Greene, Rittenhouse deserves the award for “protecting the community of Kenosha, Wisconsin, during a Black Lives Matter (BLM) riot on August 25, 2020.”
The Medal is the highest honor Congress can award an individual or institution.
Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Florida) commented on Greene’s bill, telling The Washington Post: “We are concerned that awarding Kyle with a Congressional Gold Medal will give him a big head during the internship with our office.”
