United States Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) has confirmed that she has racked up tens of thousands of dollars worth of fines for refusing to wear a mask while on the floor of the House of Representatives.
“I’m up to $63,000,” a maskless Greene boasted to The Hill outside of the House chamber, adding that the amercements are “deducted out of my check.”
Greene also revealed that she has not been vaccinated against Covid-19, despite publicly encouraging people to decide for themselves whether or not to get inoculated against the deadly pathogen. She had previously refused to disclose her vaccination status based on the false idea that doing so would violate the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
“I’m not vaccinated either. And I won’t be getting vaccinated. And that’s my own personal choice. I support people that want the vaccine. If anybody wanted one, I would drive them to go get one because I support people’s freedom to make their own decision. But I do not want to get the vaccine myself, and I don’t need to wear a mask. It’s not changing anything,” Greene said.

The congresswoman painted herself as a martyring herself on behalf of workers who have been fired for refusing to comply with President Joe Biden‘s employer vaccine mandate, which is currently tied up in the courts.
Greene acknowledged the substantial penalties that continue to be levied against her for violating the House rules but insisted that inflicting unnecessary financial pain upon herself is the right move.
“Well, you know what’s really expensive? People getting fired for not taking a vaccine that they feel they don’t need,” Greene said.
