Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Gets Standing Ovation At Closed Door GOP Meeting

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) received a standing ovation from more than half of the people attending a closed-door GOP meeting Wednesday night.

The meeting was scheduled by Republicans to decide whether GOP Conference Chairwoman Liz Cheney (R-Wyoming) would keep her high-profile position after voting in favor of former President Donald Trump’s impeachment.

Greene reportedly apologized for her history of anti-Semitism, Islamophobia and supporting conspiracy theories during another closed-door conference with House members on Wednesday. The meeting was called by House Democrats, who were introducing a resolution to oust Greene from her House seat. Before Wednesday’s meeting, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-California) said Greene would not be reprimanded for her prior conduct.

McCarthy said, “past comments from and endorsed by Marjorie Taylor Greene on school shootings, political violence, and anti-Semitic conspiracy theories do not represent the values or beliefs of the House Republican Conference.”

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-California) responded in a statement, “After several conversations and literally running away from reporters, Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (Q-CA) made clear that he is refusing to take action against conspiracy theorist Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.” Pelosi replaced the ‘R’ of McCarthy’s party to a ‘Q’ to represent the QAnon conspiracy theories touted by Greene.
