Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) regrets her decision to vote for President Donald Trump‘s “Big, Beautiful Bill.”

Greene posted on X that she did not read pages 278-279 of the bill, which strips states of the right to create legislation regulating artificial intelligence for a decade. Greene wrote on X to say that she was not aware of this inclusion in the bill and that she would not have voted in favor of the bill if she knew about this violation of state’s rights.

Democratic legislators were quick to clap back at Greene. Rep. Ted Lieu (D-California) stated on X that he read the AI policy, and that was one of the points that motivated his vote against the bill.

On Tuesday, over 200 state legislators wrote a letter to the House and Senate requesting that they remove the AI policy.

Other Republicans have come forward to state that the bill included many policies they were not aware of and would have voted against if they had known about them.

Rep. Mike Flood (R-Nebraska) stated that he was not aware that the bill would limit judges’ power to hold people accountable for infringing upon court orders.

In the case of Greene, she said she found it difficult to read over 1,000 pages of policies that the bill included.

Elon Musk, Tesla CEO and former head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) criticized supporters of the bill on X, stating that those who voted in favor of the bill should be ashamed of themselves and aware that they made a bad decision.
