Rep. Jimmy Gomez (D-California) announced on Wednesday that he will be introducing a second resolution to formally expel Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) from the U.S. House of Representatives. Gomez already submitted a resolution to expel Greene in February.
“I take no joy in introducing this resolution, but any member who cites political violence and threatens our lives must be expelled,” Gomez said Friday on the House Floor. “I believe some of my Republican colleagues, and one in particular, wish harmed upon this legislative body. I’m not saying this for shock value. It’s the conclusion I drew after a member of Congress advocated violence against our peers, the speaker and our government.”
Gomez’s original resolution in February was instrumental in removing Greene from her position on the House Education Committee. Critics said that Greene was unqualified for the position, as she believes school shootings were staged events to spur gun legislation.
Greene also posted multiple comments demanding the execution of various Democrats – and liked several hundreds more – on her Facebook page in 2018 and 2019.
