In a House debate over President Joe Biden‘s $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) criticized the plan, calling it “partisan” to pass the bill without GOP support. Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Virginia) was quick to highlights Jordan’s hypocrisy.
“All the gas-lighting that we just heard does not change the facts,” Connolly said to Jordan. “I didn’t vote to overturn an election. And I will not be lectured by people who did about partisanship.”
Connolly is referencing the fact that in January, Jordan was one of 147 House GOP members who objected to the certification of the Electoral College.

Before Wednesday’s hearing, House Republicans released a memo detailing their criticisms of Biden’s American Rescue Plan. The memo called unemployment benefits too generous and criticized the Paycheck Protection Program for distributed funding to Planned Parenthood facilities. The memo also accuses Biden of giving too much money to public transit development and for “bailing out” state and municipal governments.
Biden has since said that he will “not settle” for smaller dollar figure on his American Rescue Plan.
