A Proud Boys member pleaded guilty to felony charges for obstructing law enforcement officers during the January 6, 2021 Capitol insurrection where former President Donald Trump supporters tried to stop the certification of President Joe Biden‘s win in the 2020 election.
Louis Enrique Colon of Blue Springs, Missouri, said that he had traveled to the Capitol with other members of the far-right group. He admitted that he had bought an ax handle a day prior to double as a walking stick and weapon, crossed police barricades and scaled a wall to gain entrance to the Capitol. He also made efforts to stop the police who were trying to lower retractable doors to keep rioters out.
Colon, 45, was arrested by authorities in February 2021 in Kansas City, Missouri.
Colon is facing up to five years in prison and a maximum $250,000 fine, but will likely have a reduced sentence for his cooperation.
